New medical facility, The Hope House Centre, features our White Lias building stone

A new state-of-art health and wellbeing centre has opened in Radstock. The Hope House Centre is a modern design and we supplied our white lias building stone, a British and sustainable natural building material, which works in perfect harmony with the extensive use of wood and glass. It's contemporary building designed to house the town’s Hope House GP surgery and children’s centre as well as offering a range of other services such as minor operations, chronic disease management and family planning.

Our White Lias is a particularly fine-grained, high quality, form of limestone, varying in colour from white-cream to pale grey, and is traditionally only quarried in Somerset and occasionally in Warwickshire.

The centre received £2.4 million from the NHS England and NHS Improvement Estates and Technology Transformation Fund as well as £4.3 million of investment from Hope House Surgery, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and the Radstock and Westfield Big Local.

Construction company: Acheson Construction.
