Lovell Stone Group were delighted to supply Chilmark & Chicksgrove finished Ashlar, Architectural Masonry and Building stone to a new residence that adjoins the remaining section of historic Fonthill Abbey.

The house was designed by Watson, Bertram & Fell Architects; an award winning practice who have particular expertise with listed buildings and houses in conservation & sensitive areas. The main contractor was Emery Brother's of Bath; another company who have a great deal of experience at working on historically important buildings.

Old Fonthill Abbey was built by William Beckford with construction beginning in 1796. Most of the Abbey was demolished in 1845 and stone from the site was used in the construction of a number of local buildings, including New Fonthill Abbey.

The new Chicksgrove stone sits alongside and compliments the old Chilmark stone beautifully and will weather to an exact match.
