Hamble Cliff is a stunning private residence overlooking Southampton Water.An existing house was demolished and the new house has been built, again utilising iconic Chicksgrove stone with fine masonry features.
The project architect Linda Brown from Guoin & Brown, initially considered Purbeck stone however, having visited our Purbeck quarry near Swanage and then the Chicksgrove quarry, Chicksgrove was selected at the initial stages of design.
The completed project includes external walls in sawn, split and tumbled Chicksgrove walling stone and the finished masonry was made from fine rubbed Chicksgrove limestone. This included; plinths, band course, all window surrounds, lancet arches (internal & external), corbels, a feature oriel window, balcony copings and chimneys. In total 27.987 m3 of Chicksgrove stone was supplied which included 365m2 of Chicksgrove sawn, split & tumbled building stone.
